Kas:st

KAS:ST, the French duo behind the Flyance Records label, undeniably brings an atypical and avant-garde vision to techno music. Whether it is with their first album ‘Road To Nowhere’ (released in October 2019), their series of exceptional EPs or through their Live acts and DJ sets, they are easily recognizable.
They released their first project on Flyance at the end of 2016, ‘Dysphoria I Euphoria’, a double EP which set the tone for their music. Since then, each track released is a journey bringing together dark and melancholic emotions without ever losing touch with the clubbing aspect of techno. A varied and always praised discography followed, with diverse releases on different renowned labels (Afterlife, Concrete Music, A.R.T.S, Materia...).

In 2019 they launched their new project Road To Nowhere spurred on as ever by their will to break codes and to think outside the box. The album synthesized the duo’s broad creative range: industrial techno, drum and bass, trap, symphonic tracks... It was a key moment in their career. Thanks to a unique and innovative format, as they released one track a month during a whole year outside of the usual channels of the techno scene, KAS:ST were able to unveil their full potential. The LP was extremely well received on streaming platforms: over 6 million streams (2 millions on Spotify and 4 million on YouTube) and more than 1.6 million views for the ‘Hell On Earth’ music video in just a few months.

They released a new EP on the Italian and Tale Of Us-owned label Afterlife in mid-December 2019. Hold Me To The Light, one of the flagship tracks of the EP, once again emphasized the duo’s will to renew techno codes by working this time with the London based singer Be No Rain. Tale Of Us themselves remixed the track on the same EP and it became one of the anthems of the Afterlife label during the 2019 second semester.

KAS:ST never ceased to push their music’s boundaries during that very prolific year, their tracks getting remixes, for instance, by renowned artists at the polar opposite of the techno sphere like 999999999 and Tale Of Us, as long as an unexpected collaboration with Kerri Chandler.

As their musical realm grows broader, their schedule gets busier. Their Live sets (brand new Live act first presented last November at Berghain-Panorama Bar) which attracted considerable attention and their bold DJ sets hypnotized their fair share of the best clubs and festivals around the world. Currently developing a new Live show, they will always push electronic musics to their limits, marrying audio and video technology and using structured tracks as well as more ‘traditional’ songs, singers’ vocals and much more.
